I have blogged several times about the virtues of admiration, and the greatness of being a polymath, so I thought it would be nice to show that I practice what I preach by introducing here some of my heroes. (more…)

I am happy to report that Zerebria received the other day the Cherry On Top Award from Raul Ojeda, AKA Alien Ghost. I guess this award must always come as a surprise for the receiver (it is part of its charm), and I feel quite overwhelmed, mostly considering that my blog is still not one year old.
Now, to receive the Cherry On Top Award one must fulfill a series of rules: (more…)

Children are like pure water before it gets stained by our ‘civilized’ procedures (in fact, it is more than a metaphor: it seems the water percentage in a child’s body is higher than the regular adult 60-70%). So, even though nowadays they usually lose their innocence really soon (they better do), it is still possible to (more…)

Life is amazing when you think of it. Take what you’re really seeing right now, for instance. Try to abandon frontal vision for a minute and embrace the whole picture. You’ll have noticed that, above what you’re seeing, starts a black area, the place where (more…)

I used to think of photography as a minor art. In comparison to music or literature, my all-time beloved ones, it appeared to me that photography granted a lower degree of choice to the artist, and was, thus, not that praiseworthy. It made me think of the old joke of the (more…)

I want to share with you a wonderful quote from the Dhammapada
, one of the traditional Buddhist texts. I am not looking for converts of any kind here, firstly because Buddhism is not a theocentric but an anthropocentric system of belief, so it does not (more…)

I have a retarded mind: I very often go through the best ideas in books and posts without noticing them right away. They usually become some sort of “seed” in my head and take 3, 4 days to fully grow, without me having the least intention to do anything about them. And then one day, as a flower that opens after a delicate nurture, I say: “wow”, and do something about it.
Writing the successes of the day was one of those great ideas. Simple, non-coded, very little time-consuming, it pays off in a way that is almost scary. (more…)

When I was in my twenties, I used to go to the movies every weekend with a friend of mine. It would be fair to say that he was the one who taught me the real art of watching films, the art of really considering them and learning from them.
In spite of that, he wasn’t precisely a person of the enthusiastic type, (more…)
