The correct adoption of the GTD methodology, besides a boost in our outcomes, can also cause some important psychic side effects. David Allen himself frequently acknowledges it, sometimes (more…)

I learned the fact that our planet is doomed in 2006. (It’s alright if you don’t trust Al Gore, a politician after all. But think about James Lovelock, who has devoted his whole life to Mother Earth, only to discover that we have taken it to an irreversible coma. Or Stephen Hawkins, who, (more…)

I don’t know, maybe it comes with it age, but I have recently realized a huge misconception in my way of facing things, life, you name it. In my way of being an “adult” and “sensible” person. (more…)

I feel terrible. My throat is spiked with thorns, I have this intermittent pain in my articulations, I’m cold, I’m hot. A few minutes ago, I went into the shower before removing my soaked sheets, after a night of what only very generously could be named as “sleep”. I remember a moment after the shower, when I (more…)

I used to think of photography as a minor art. In comparison to music or literature, my all-time beloved ones, it appeared to me that photography granted a lower degree of choice to the artist, and was, thus, not that praiseworthy. It made me think of the old joke of the (more…)

The issue rose in a recent conversation with a close relative of mine: “philosophy is not necessary for life”, said the relative, in a somewhat disdainful tone.
It is important to notice that, in the context of this conversation, the word “philosophy” was indeed used (more…)

One of the parts of the Getting Things Done methodology that I found most difficult to apply at first was writing down “purposes and principles” for each project (more…)

The advent of Internet, the changes it has and is forcing in a very short little time, has been a shock. A positive one, maybe, but still a shock. It is not new, though: I still remember my first toying around with an 8-bit computer, in those days when computers were isolated one from another. That tiny fever was the seed of what we have now. But what is it that keeps us so hooked on computers? And where to set the limit between proper use and orgy?
It is (more…)

Only extreme ignorance or arrogance can lead to believe that one fully controls one’s behavior. To begin with, we are alive beings, and we don’t know what life is: scientists can describe its parts or modify its working, but they cannot explain life. What I am going to discuss here is Carl Gustav Jung’s basic ideas on the unconscious, and you may agree with them or not, but one fact is already undeniable: (more…)
